Coming off a runner-up effort, beaten just a neck last out, WINSINFASHION took the lead at the top of the stretch and pulled clear for a 2 1/4-length win at Del Mar. The 4-year-old filly by ALBERTUS MAXIMUS moved up to challenge for the lead after breaking from the inside post. She dueled on the inside until putting her foe away at the top of the stretch and was never challenged to the wire racing 5 1/2 furlongs. A $75,000 purchase out of the Barretts March Selected 2YO Sale, WINSINFASHION was a 6 1/2-length maiden winner at Santa Anita in her third start at two. She was bred by Ponder Hill, Inc., Denise Purvis & David Purvis out of the Is It True mare, I’s a Fact.
Also on Saturday, HELEN MAE’S SONG ran away from her competition for an 8 1/4-length victory going six furlongs. The 3-year-old filly won for the second time in her last four starts which also includes a 9 1/2-length maiden score here at Fairmount Park, and in the other two races, she was beaten by less than a combined three lengths. She was bred by her owner/trainer Terry Burgess out of Marylou’s Song, by Grand Reward.
