Making the second career start after a slow beginning in his debut at the end of May, DRY CREEK ROAD turned back a challenger in the stretch to win a Maiden Special Weight by 1 1/2 lengths. The son of ALBERTUS MAXIMUS raced less than two lengths off the lead early, went three wide on the turn to reach the front, then dueled through the stretch to eventually pull away for the victory racing 4 1/2 furlongs at Charles Town 6/21. He was bred by Gordondale Farm out of Stormy Pass, by Deputy Storm.
After placing in her last two starts, HELEN MAE’S SONG was much the best to win this six-furlong Maiden test by 9 1/2 lengths. She broke alertly from the inside post to be first out of the gate, then was eased back to allow another to take a brief lead. HELEN MAE’S SONG resumed the lead on the turn and drew off for her final wide margin of victory at Fairmount Park 6/29. She was bred by her owner/trainer Terry Burgess out of Marylou’s Song, by Grand Reward.
