MS. MAXIMA Wires the Field in Eventful Maiden Special

Stretching out to two turns for the first time, MS. MAXIMA led the way to take a one mile Maiden Special Weight by 2 1/4 lengths. The daughter of ALBERTUS MAXIMUS broke on top from post two to take the early lead around the first turn. But before she could straighten away for the run down the backstretch, her pilot’s reins broke and he struggled to maintain control as he nearly went over her head. They drifted out to the center of the track but somehow Jaime Rodriguez was able to get some semblance of control and he continued to let her run on the front end. Still in front turning for home, Rodriguez hand urged MS. MAXIMA through the stretch to maintain the lead to the wire in what was a memorable performance for both. MS. MAXIMA was bred by Jac Tomasello out of the Holy Bull mare, Holy Akadya.
