MAXIMUM CHARGES Becomes 19th First Crop Winner

MAXIMUM CHARGES vied for the lead soon after the break and never relinquished it to win a Maiden Special Weight by one length. The 3-year-old son of ALBERTUS MAXIMUS from his first crop got clear midway around the turn, then dug in to hold off a challenger through the stretch to get the win racing 5 1/2 furlongs on the dirt at Indiana Grand Race Course. This was his first try on dirt. In his last two starts, MAXIMUM CHARGES was runner-up beaten only 1/2 length, but 7 1/4 lengths in front of the next horse, on the all-weather at Arlington Park, and also finished two lengths back in his on-the-board finish in a Maiden Special Weight on the turf, again at Arlington. He is a Smokey Creek Farm homebred our of Actual Charges, by Peruvian.
