DAAHER Gets Eighth 2YO Winner at Tampa

Stretching out to two turns and trying the turf for the first time, MEILLEUR drew away in the stretch to win a one mile Maiden test by four lengths. The son of DAAHER vied early for the lead around the first turn and then secured it on the backstretch. MEILLEUR continued to control the front end around the far turn and then showed he was much the best through the lane pulling away to the wire. Bred by Dean Hayes out of the Dayjur mare, Hallie and Beth, he was runner-up in a Maiden Special Weight in his second career start at Presque Isle Downs. The eighth 2-year-old winner this year from 14 starters for his sire, MEILLEUR was a $40,000 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October sales purchase by current owners DARRS, Inc., and is trained by Michael Stidham.
