Making his second start back after a 12-month lay-off, ALYMAX broke on top and wired the field to take an allowance test by 2 1/4 lengths. The 4-year-old colt from the second crop of ALBERTUS MAXIMUS broke sharply from post six to grab the lead. He had extended his lead to four lengths by upper stretch and remained comfortably in front to the wire racing 5 1/2 furlongs at Mountaineer. ALYMAX won two straight in the summer of 2017 – a five-furlong off-the-turf Maiden Special Weight by an astonishing 15 1/2 lengths, followed by a six-length allowance score, both in wire-to-wire fashion. He is a Canterbury Oaks Farm homebred out of the Thunder Gulch mare, Bronte’s Miss.
