ALTA RITA Pulls Away in Maiden Special Weight Win

Facing nine rivals in this 6 1/2-furlong Maiden Special Weight, ALTA RITA rallied through the stretch to win pulling away by 2 3/4 lengths. Only about four lengths off the lead at the half-mile marker, the 3-year-old filly from the first crop of ALBERTUS MAXIMUS was five wide turning for home and ran down the frontrunner to win going away at Turfway Park. ALTA RITA was purchased for $90,000 at the Keeneland September sale, the second highest priced yearling of the session, by current owner Preston Stables. She was bred by Ponder Hill, Inc. out of Goodbye Beautiful, by Goodbye Doeny.
