KINGLY, bred and co-owned by Clearsky Farms and trained by Bob Baffert, set all the pace to win the La Jolla H.-G3 on the Jimmy Durante turf course at Del Mar. After dueling early with the runner-up, KINGLY moved out to take a 3 1/2-length lead after the first half mile. Challenged again on the far turn, he was able to open up again at the top of the stretch and remained in front to the wire to take this 1 1/16-mile event by a neck. KINGLY won his only start at two, and earlier this year won the California Derby and placed in the G3 Los Alamitos Derby-G3 and El Camino Real Derby. By Tapit, he is a full brother to multiple Graded stakes winner at two and three and Shadwell stallion MOHAYMEN, and a half-brother to Breeders’ Cup Juvenile-G1 winner and G1 sire New Year’s Day, sire of Haskell Inv. S.-G1 and Florida Derby-G1 winner Maximum Security.
