1st-Crop 2YO MOWINS Wins Back-to-Back $100,000 Stakes

Coming off a win in the six-furlong, $100,000 Circle City S. a month back, MOWINS stretched out to two turns for the first time and drew off in the stretch to win the $100,000 Indiana Futurity by 6 1/4 lengths. Going one mile an 70 yards on a sloppy sealed track, the 2-year-old colt by freshman sire MOHAYMEN broke alertly from post five in a 11-horse field to race up close in fourth in the early going. He began his rally on the far turn, took the lead midway around the turn, then pulled away down the lane for a much-the-best performance at Indiana Grand. Out of the Pure Prize mare, Prize Winner, MOWINS was bred by Michael E. Lauer & Penny S. Lauer and is trained by Michael Lauer for owners Clay Thoroughbreds and Penny Lauer.
