The first weanling through the sales ring from the first crop of our Belmont Stakes (G1) winner JAZIL topped the consignor preferred session of the Ocala Breeders’s Sales Co. Fall Mixed Sale.
Purchased for $77,000 by Baccari Bloodstock from the consignment of Barry Menefee, Agent, the bay colt was produced by the Pentelicus mare, Pelicus Affair, who is a half-sister to six winners, including the multiple graded stakes winner Pine Dance, who won both the American Derby (G2) and the Pennsylvania Derby (G3). Pelicus Affair is also a half-sister to the stakes winning Village Dancer, herself the dam of the multiple stakes winner and multiple graded stakes performer, The Happy Hopper and dual black-type producer Half Crown. This is also the immediate family of graded stakes winner Mulrainy.
